What is EPN Microneedling Electroporation?

EPN Microneedling Electroporation is a tandem treatment where microneedling works to initiate a wound healing response with the penetration of ultra-fine needles into the skin.  This stimulates the production elastin and collagen. At the same time the electroporation creates electrical fields within the cells, creating an easy passage for products such as serums.

How many treatments are required?

Generally 3 – 6 treatments at 4 – 6 week intervals.

Who should not have this treatment?

This should be discussed with the treating practitioner. As a guide those with the following conditions should seek advice prior to undergoing treatment:

  • Poorly controlled diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Bell’s palsy or other facial paralysis
  • Pregnancy
  • Cancer (or undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment)
  • Communicable diseases (Hepatitis, un-treated HIV etc.)
  • Weakness to electric shock therapy
  • Open wounds or lesions on the face and/or neck including active herpes or acne
  • Skin pigmentation problems (e.g. Melasma or Vitiligo)
  • Metal implants/ pacemaker users/ piercings in the treatment area
  • Heart conditions or cardiovascular disease
  • An active, systemic or local skin disease that may alter wound healing
  • Lymphatic/Autoimmune disorders
  • Keloid formation / scarring
  • Rosacea or those with very reactive skin

Before the Treatment

There will be an initial consultation with our skin expert ensuring all your concerns have been considered. The depth of the EPN Microneedling Electroporation treatments and the number of sessions required will be discussed. Any make-up or tanning treatments will be washed off prior to treatment and, if required, topical anaesthesia will be applied.

During the treatment

Based on the skin consultation a serum will be applied and the needling depth and electroporation strength will be decided.  EPN Microneedling Electroporation is a fairly comfortable treatment.

After the treatment

You may experience some aftereffects for up to 72 hours. These include:

Redness, Peeling, Tingling, Bleeding, Bruising, Swelling, Soreness, Erythema

Do:

  • Apply a cold compress, such as a cold pack or flannel
  • Apply a good quality, high factor SPF

Do not:

  • Place ice directly on to the skin
  • Apply make-up for 72 hours
  • Apply any acids, including those in serums, facewashes etc, to the face for 72 hours
  • Have any peels for 4-6 weeks post treatment
  • Avoid for a few days post treatment:
  • The sun or UV light
  • Exfoliation
  • Sunburn
  • Exercise
  • Saunas
