How does it work? (The Science)

• This painless hair removal system is made possible by the combination of low fluence, rapid-pulsing GOLD STANDARD 810 DIODE technology and the unique patented In Motion technique. The delivery of treatments is in the form of a sweeping massage unlike other lasers. It is often compared to a similar sensation of having a hot stone massage.

• The diode laser emits a laser beam which is absorbed by the hair follicle base gradually increasing the temperature to 45°c to the bulb and its surrounding tissue, this in effect destroys it so the hair numbers goes down. Because hair grows in cycles and only the hair that is growing or active are destroyed by the laser energy, it is imperative that you have at least four treatments to get a good result. Am I suitable for treatment?

Most clients are suitable for the treatments, however there are certain occasion where treatment may be refused. This may include previous history of skin cancer, pregnancy, taking photosensitivity or anticoagulant medication, history of keloid scarring or Active Herpes Simplex (cold sores) in treatment area, suffereing from epilepsy or insulin dependant diabetes.

Are there any side effects?

The skin of some patients becomes quite red immediately after treatment and very rarely small blisters can occur. However, most patients experience no side effects at all and the described skin reactions usually reside within hours to a few days.

How many treatments will I need?

For most patients it is recommended to have between 6-8 treatments. Only hair in the growth phase (anagen) can be treated. The number of hairs in this phase varies from 10% to 70% depending on the body site. The lengths of the growth cycles also vary between people. It has been hypothesized that the first treatment often activates those non anagen hairs to start growing which is often confused with regrowth. This consequently makes further session more effective.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Patients should avoid any form of epilation including waxing, plucking, threading and bleaching 4 weeks prior to treatment. Shaving the areas you wish to treat is fine, however you should allow at last 1-2mm growth before treatment so those specific areas may be marked out. It is also imperative that you avoid tanning at least 4 weeks prior to treatment, eradicating any possibility of complications from excessive light absorption by the melanin in the epidermis. On the treatment day do not apply deodorant, perfumed products on the areas you wish to have treated.
